ADAM Roynon has received the backing of an unlikely source - former World Champion Billy Hamill!

Adam has been denied in his bid to ride in both the Elite League and Premier League this year, but he received a boost when 1996 World Champ Hamill offered some advice.

Adam revealed: “I was on Facebook and I randomly got a message from Billy Hamill!

“He asked me how my preparations were going for this season and I explained the situation to him and he told me just to take my time and set myself some realistic goals for whoever I’m riding for.”

It came as a nice surprise for the Barrow racer, who was denied the chance to double-up this year by the BSPA.

Adam added: “Billy just told me to stay positive regardless, and ‘Shake what my mama gave me’!

" I’m guessing that means go out there and show them what I can do! It was a big lift for me to get such good advice from a former World Champion and I’m grateful for his help.”
